Tal Kronkop

At the beginning of every Autumn, before the Jewish new year, my grandparents (immigrants from Syria and Poland) would sit next to the large window in their Tel-Aviv apartment and peel black eyed peas. I used to love joining this slow, monotonous action. My grandmother would then freeze the peas to prepare a Levantine dish made from them all year round. 

‘Black Eyed Peas shows the artist with her grandmother seated in front of the same window, peeling a huge pile of beans that separates and connects them at the same time.’
